Product Review: Human Heart Nature Kids Natural Shampoo & Body Wash

I have been hearing and reading a lot of good reviews about Human Heart Nature even before I became a Mom, I have tried also some of their skin care products, and was very satisfied with them.

For the record, Jashley has thin and very fine hair, it seems like it is taking too long to grow,  she has few hair (almost bald) when she was born and we only cut her hair once.

I already tried different baby shampoos on her hoping that I can find a perfect shampoo for her that can help her hair grow thicker & longer.

So when I spotted this Human Heart Nature Kids Natural Shampoo & Body Wash at Rustan Supermarket, Shangrila, I quickly grab one. Knowing that HHN products are completely free of harmful chemicals, and like any other organic products this sure will make her hair and skin healthy and naturally fresh & clean.

It comes with different scents but I only bought the Ocean Apple Scent, to try first if it will do the trick on getting Jashley's hair grows thicker.

Now lets go to the review proper, aside from being organic and locally made, another thing that I love is its scent, it smells sweet and fresh perfect for little girls, Jashley and I both loves the fun packaging, small amount goes a long way and easy to rinse as well, it can be used as body wash too (in that case I don't need to bring extra body soap when we're having out-of-town trips), she never had any skin irritation, her head doesn't smell like sour sweat, and finally it made Jashley's hair a bit thicker and darker.

I love it so much that before she emptied the first bottle I purchased a new one, this time I bought the Tangerine Tarsier variant, but sad to say unlike the Ocean Apple scent this one makes her head smells sour, I don't know if it is because of the citrus scent that makes her sweat to be more sour like smell, hmmm... that makes me wanna try the product on myself and see if it will have the same reaction on my sweat, lols.

Anyway, I have bought again another bottle of the Ocean Apple variant, and just use the Tangerine Tarsier variant as her body wash so we don't need to waste anything, after all it is moisturizing enough to make her skin soft and supple.

Overall we're a happy customer and will surely purchase it again.

Tangerine Tarsier scent and our second bottle of Ocean Apple scent both in 200ml which priced at Php129.75
Also available in:
50ml- Php44.75
500ml- Php289.75

Snack time

My Babybear love eating snacks, that's why I always make sure to stock up snacks at home. I actually disagrre with some people who thinks that snack is unhealthy because for me its is a way to combat hunger in between meals. plus you can get extra energy and nutrients that your body needs, you just have to pick the right snack. That is why I'm always on the look-out for different snacks on the groceries, Before, whenever she likes a particular snack I hoard them and stock up at home, then I noticed she gets "umay" on those snacks because I repeatedly offer it to her for like twice a day in 2 to 3 days (thinking that she likes that snack so much). But now what I do is I buy a piece or two of different snacks, and let her choose what she wants whenever she ask for something to eat. In that way I will not be force to eat those snacks she wasn't able to consume, and able to lessen also our food wastage.I'm glad that most of snacks that can be found at the groceries are on single packs.

These are Jashley's supply of snacks for two weeks. We do our grocery shopping every 2 weeks, I make sure to replenish them every 2 weeks, those snacks that she wan't able to consume I bring them in the office to snack on them if they still fit to consume otherwise we throw them away.

Snacking wouldn't be complete without a refreshing drinks. And here are her favorites yakult and dutchmill and her favorite jelly pudding, I hide them on those plastic containers. because eversince she learned how to open the refrigerator on her own, she can easily sneak out those snacks. When it's near meal time na kasi we don't allow her to eat snacks anymore so she's able to eat her meal.

I sometimes let her indulge on these sweet treats also. I know these are not healthy at all but I don't want her to deprive on this kind of treats naman, after all she's a kid so she deserves to experience this from time to time. I just have to control her intake of these and always make sure that she brushes her teeth after she take those sweets.

I also don't forget to bring some of those snacks whenever were out for a trip or going to church, I always bring extra because my little girl loves sharing her food with her friends on church, then lately some of her friend's Mommies also started bringing extra snacks so their kids can share also, It's so nice that the kids is learning how to share their foods to each other.

How about you Mommies, care to share your kids favorite snacks?

DIY Fabric Fishing Toy

Hello my fellow Mommies out there, today I wanna share with you the fabric fishing toy that I made few weeks ago for my little Jashley.

I found some leftover fabrics and other materials from my previous DIYs. Basically you need the following:

- fabric (I use felt fabric)
- fish shape template (I just draw a fish shape on a piece of cardboard and cut it out.)
- thread
- needle
- pins
- scissor
- brads
- magnet
- wooden stick/dowel (not included in the photo)
- yarn (length is depends on your prefered length)
- cushion stuffing (not included in the photo, I just got some from an old pillow)

Instruction for the fabric fish:

1. Since you will be needing 2 pieces of these fish cut outs to make 1 fabric fish, you may cut both side simultaneously by laying 2 layers of fabric together and pinning the pattern to the top.

2. Poke the fabric fish cut out using  a needle so you can easily insert a brad on that small hole (I place mine on where the fish eyes should be,)

3. Turn over your fabric fish cut out and secure the brad by separating their tiny arms and bending them in different directions. Do this on both fabric cut outs. To make them more secure I adhere the 2 brads on their back using a double sided tape. You may use hot glue if you want.

4. Lay the cut outs side by side together and sew them all the way around. Leave a 2" open space.

5. Stuff fish with the fabric stuffings. Keep it light so that the brads and magnet are sure to hold while fishing.

6. Sew the 2" opening together.

Instruction for the fishing rod:

1. I used a wooden chopstick since thats the only one I can find at home. Stick them together on their tips using a masking tape to make them long.

2. Tie the one end of the yarn on your wooden stick and the magnet on the other end of the yarn.

Tadaa!! Finish product.

When I let my little fisherman go fishing I noticed she's having a hard time stick the magnet to the brads, as the yarn is quite too long for her height, she have to raise her arms. So I decided to shorten the yarn. Eventually I have also shortened the wooden stick by just unsticking them. In that way it is a lot easier for her catch the fishes.

 Happy fishing!!!

Ang Tagapagtanggol

Is it only me or every Mommies out there is experiencing the same dilemma I have with my  toddler right now. These past few weeks I noticed that Jashley is becoming a little bratty and pasaway. If she cannont get what she wants she'll have tantrums, if you make her saway she'll whine. And just recently I don't know where she learned this "ikaw kasi huh" phrase that she always says anytime someone saway her or disturbed her on whatever she is doing. Like for example, I made her saway, she will say "si Mommy kasi huh" complete with pagkunot ng noo and a hand gesture that looks like she'll gonna hit you. If you accidentally bumped into her, or you interrupted her while she's watching, or you said no to her request, she will say "Mommy/Daddy kasi huh" as if she's blaming you.  I don't know where she learned that, we don't allow her to watch naman mga palabas sa TV, mostly educational lang pinapanood nya. She seldom plays outside din para matutunan nya yan sa labas.

Then last night while she's holding a hanger, I heard her ask Mama (my MIL) "gusto mo palo?", this one I know she got it from us because I asked her that same question kapag sobrang pasaway na siya, though I don't hit her naman, more on "amba" lang except on some occasions na super bad yung ginawa niya. I talked to her after that,

Me: Jashley, I don't like what you did to Mama awhile ago, that's not nice, don't do that again ok?
Jashley: Opo
Me: Promise me you will not hit someone again ok?
Jashley: Yes

I have been practicing this kind of conversation even before she turned one everytime she did something wrong, pero last night lang ako naka-receive ng ganyang reply from her. Usualy when i talk to her she will cry and make tantrums or she'll hug me or she'll run to her Daddy. So nagulat talaga ako sa sagot nya, well thats good though, I hope lang na sana she really understand me when she said yes, anyway uulit ulitin ko yan sa kanya unti she finally understand it. Good thing din siguro that when I talked to her dalawa lang kami, so she cannot run to anyone for help.

I also talked to Hubby last night on how we will discipline Jashley about this, He spoiled her kasi, same with my parents in law, they don't want to make saway Jashley because she's too young pa daw to be scolded and understand that what she's doing is not right, masayadong spoiled palibhasa nagiisang apo, ayan tuloy akala nung bata it's ok to hit someone, na laro laro lang ang paluan, tatawa pa talaga yan after she hit someone. For me kasi eversince she was a baby I didn't allow her to do that to me. If you will instruct her to hit me, titingin lang yan sakin and tititigan ko lang din siya, then she will say "No", she knows kasi that I will get mad if she hit me. When she asked my MIL last night, "gusto mo palo?", my MIL replied "Sige itanong mo yan sa Mommy mo kung gusto nya palo", when she saw me, she immediately said "No" , I asked her to give the hangerto me but she said "No, Mommy please" and put the hanger back to where she got it.

I told that story to Hubby, and explain to him that maybe Jashley got confused with how we disciplined her, that we were sending a wrong signal to her, that we should be on the same side always in disciplining her, for me lasi it looks like Jashley thought that It's ok to hit anyone except Mommy because I'm the only one who gets mad whenever she does that. And from now on when one of us is scolding her, wag aamuhin ng isa ung bata, yan kasi si "eto na ang  tagapagtanggol", as in when I'm scolding Jashley, he will shout that tapos lalapitan yung bata at aamuhin. Hay pasaway, dapat siguro si Hubby muna ang disiplinahin ano? Watcha think Mommies?

Not so good weekend

Hi Mommies, how was your long weekend? Ako? not so good, but still I thank God that Hubby and my little girl is doing great na.

It started Saturday morning, we were at the church and Hubby was not feeling well the whole service due to his migraine. We decided not to attend the afternoon service so Hubby can rest at home. Come night time He's vomitting naman, I told him na magpa-check up na, at first he doesn't want to, he needs to rest lang daw but after awhile buti pumayag na because super worried na talaga ko. Since he doesn't have any fever, according to the Doctor his migraine was due to his stomach so he gave him meds for his sikmura and an oresol to prevent him from dehydration. Pro dahil matigas ang ulo ng asawa ko hindi nya sinunod what the Doctor said, rest lang daw ang kailangan nya. So I let him rest na lang, he still vomit 2 times that night and thank God he is fine na the next morning.

Jashley naman woke up around 1 am that midnight and asked for a milk, I gave her and waited for her to finish but she wasn't able to finish it. Usually after drinking milk she will just get back to sleep but this time I noticed that she's a little uneasy, she kept on turning, she stood up after awhile and asked me to carry her. Exactly after I scooped her up she vomits on me, as in her puke was all over me. After washing her up I tried putting her down so I can clean myself but she won't let me, she's crying and begging me not to put her down. I don't want to disturb Hubby beause I know kakatulog nya lang that time. Good thing that night we decided to sleep on my Parent-in-Law's house (which is just beside our house), dun na kasi nakatulog si Jashley when we left home para magpa-check up si Hubby. As much as I don't want also to disturb my MIL, I don't have a choice but to wakes her up to pass Jashley to her so I can clean up. While I was cleaning up, Jashley vomits again, she vomits all the food she has eaten the whole day. After that 2nd vomiting she stops crying na and goes back to sleep.

The next morning (Sunday) everything seems fine, Hubby is well na and Jashley's is in her usual playful and cheerful self. After we ate breakfast I clean the house, then ung mag-ama ko was outside sitting at our front yard. After awhile they enter the house, Hubby's carrying Jashley and nakasubsob na on his neck, tulog na pala. I told him to let her sleep since mukhang napuyat at napagod siya with all the vomiting happend the night before. After he settled down Jashley Hubby noticed na parang umiinit siya. He checked her temperature and got a 38.5 deg. temp. Until afternoon hindi bumababa ang temperature niya and Then anything she take, whether solid food or just milk, sinusuka nya after taking it. So we decided to bring her na to hospital, and because she's vomitting anything she takes the doctor said she needed to be confined. Hubby and I were a little hesitated because we don't want her to subject to the painful needle works she needed to go through. But ofcourse we don't want to take chances, so we agreed to the doctors advise. But before that Hubby talked to the doctor and asked if they can handle a child because we're sure na magwawala si Jashley kapag nilagayan ng dextrose. The doctor naman assured that they can, since that Hospital is a Childrens Hospital they have a lot of experience in handling childrens.

Ayun na nga super nagwawala na si Jashley when the nurse started to perform the IV insertion, as in awang awa ako sa anak ko. Para siyang kinakatay. She kept on saying "No, please" and "Ayoko na po", and kept on calling me. I held back my tears, I just kept on kissing her and whispering to her na Its ok Mommy is here. First attempt was not successful because her veins daw is difficult to find. When the doctor (who assured us that they can handle childrens) enters the ER and found out that the nurse is having the hard time performing the IV insertion because nga of Jashley's "difficult" veins plus nagwawala pa siya, the doctor said she will be the one to perform na lang daw. Lalong nagwala si Jashley that time, yung nurse na kasi ang nag-restrain sa kanya  while the doctor is doing the IV insertion, hindi ko kasi siya ma-restrain ng mabuti sa sobrang awa ko sa kanya di ko mahigpitan yung paghawak ko kasi alam ko nasasaktan siya. Sino ba namang ina ang hindi maawa if you hear your daughter crying, shouting and asking for your help pero wala kang magawa, she kept on calling me, hanggang sa siguro she notice na wala ako magawa, she then pleaded to the doctor, she said "Tita, please no", "Ayaw ko na po", "Sorry, Tita", the moment I heared her saying sorry to the doctor, naiyak na talaga ko.She thought she did something wrong and what was happening is a punishment for her. It really breaks my heart that moment but I have to be strong for my little girl. I saw Hubby's face he is also holding back his tears. This is the exact reason why as much as possible we don't want her to be confined. Anyway, thank God that kahit medyo natagalan, atleast, it took only one try for the doctor to finally insert the IV, natagalan lang talaga on finding her veins.

After that Jashley still crying and wants to go home, she doesn't want to stay sa ER. When we we're transferred na to our room, she calmed down na but whenever a nurse or someone she don't know entered the room she's starting to cry again, shouting "No, please" and asking me to go home na.

First day at the Hospital, she was busy watching, wag lang may papasok na nurse at sure na magwawala ang bata.

After 2 days she's not crying na when she sees a nurse basta wag lang siya hahawakan, she even greeted them goodmorning or hi whenever they enter the room basta wag lang talaga siya hahawakan, kaya I'm the one taking her temperature and giving her meds, the nurse will record lang yung temp and will instruct me lang what medicine she'll take.

She had an on and off fever eversince we were admitted, usually the fever will occur when she's sleeping pag gising siya the fever subsides, they perform a urine test and blood test on her. She's negative on the urine test but her blood test shows a minimal blood infection, theres nothing to worry naman daw according to the doctor, this is usually occurs for kids ages 3 years below because of their low immune system and since minimal lang naman ang nakita kay Jashley it can be cured with antibiotics. On tuesday they perform again a blood test to see if there's a need for futher tests for dengue since that day is the 3rd day of her fever, actually she doesn't have fever na that tuesday morning around 10am when they perform the test, her last fever was 2am that day, but because that 2am is still within the 3rd day and is not yet 24 hrs since her last fever, the doctor still ordered to perform the test . Thank God the test were negative, may dengue outbreak pa naman sa bulacan ngayon kaya nakakatakot.

Masigla na ang bata at sobrang inip na.

Meet Jashley's bestfriend Teddy. Thanks Teddy for staying by her side.
We were finally discharged on the third day which is wednesday. Since Jashley has no fever na since that tuesday morning. We were instructed lang to continue the antibiotics until we finish the whole bottle. While the nurse is removing her IV, she's crying and shouting "No please" again.  After the IV finally removed, Jashley said  "punta tayo house, Mommy", she also kept on saying this the whole time we were at the hospital. The moment we got out of the room she stop crying,  I wish I was able to capture how happy she was when we finally got out of that hospital room. Kahit ako sobrang excited and happy that finally I can give na her "punta tayo house" request, we will going home na. I can sense how happy she was that moment, she said goodbye to everyone, to everything she saw there, while we were riding the tricycle she said "goodbye nurse, goodbye doctor, goodbye guard, goodbye hospital, goodbye dog, goodbye plants, goodbye trees at kung ano ano pa. While she's saying goodbye to all of them I am praying and hoping that this goodbyes means she's not going to go through this and experience this anymore.

DIY: Princess Theme Candy Buffet

Better late than never. Finally I have found time to share this DIY of mine here, This post have been sitting on my draft folder for so looooong, So without further ado, let me present to you my Princess Theme DIY Candy Buffet for my little girl 1st Birthday last year.

Our color motif was Pink, Yellow and Purple. I bought candies from the grocery and creatively name them with words associated with "Princesses".

Royal Lollipops, stuck in my DIY "Castle Lollipop Holder", I made the castles body using an empty can of milk, and empty milk box for the castles bridge at the middle, and a styro foam for their roofs. Stick them all together and paint.

Jelly Gems, this jelly candy's shape was so perfect for my "Princess Theme" candy buffet, lucky I found them on a local store near us, I just have to cut them into single pieces though to make it more look like a gems, you may use the regular circular shape if you can't find one like this.

Cupcake Tower, I just bought a mini cupcakes at the grocery and topped it with those cute girly stuffs cupcake toppers that I bought on a local baking store as well as the pink cardboard cupcake tower.

Gold Choco Coins, can be bought also at the supermarkets & groceries.

Candy Jewels, in pink, yellow & purple, perfect for our color motif.

Crown Shape Choco Pops, which we made out of melted chocolate and a crown shape mold.

Others that don't have a close up photos were Magical Twisted Mallows, Enchanted Choco Cups, Wafer Scrolls and Yogurt Wands.

I printed out princess quote & the candy names that I made on the photoshop.

For the letters J-A-S-H-L-E-Y, I bought it at Divisoria and decorate it with colorful strings.

And for the "sweet treats" backdrop, I made a pinwheel out of colored papers, and printed out the banner that I downloaded from the net.

Other stuffs like table cloth & tall food server were provided by Max's Restaurant which was our venue/supplier for that day.

I hope you enjoyed reading this candy filled post. Happy DIYing  Everyone. =)

Busy

Hi guys, sorry I wasn't able to blog for these past few days, or weeks na ata, suoer duper mega over busy kasi on work. We have project submissions kasi today so since last week I do overtime for 2-4 hours a day, our team leader wants us to come pa last Saturday, I said, I cannot work on saturdays because it is Sabbath day, so I tried talaga to finish as much as I can, thank God we we're able to finish more than half of the drawings needed, so whats left is  enough na to finish from Monday until today. I thought relax na kami this week, kaso eto na, come Monday, our Senior Architect in Dubai is asking additional drawings, which will be needing to submit on that day. Guess what time we were able to finish it? 2:00 Am, yup madaling araw na. I Arrived home 4:30 AM na, ang tagal magpuno ng pasahero sa terminal. I slept na agad agad when I got home, I woke up 7:00 AM, so I only slept 2.5 hours. I came to office around 10:00 AM na, then I did overtime nanaman until 8:00 PM that day, kaya naman na tapusin the next day (which is today). As of now uploading na kami kaya I have time to blog saglit.

Anyway, I have kwento about Jashley, she's very madaldal na talaga, nakakatuwa sobra. And she's into "kos" these days as in "Mommy Ko", "Daddy Ko", "toys Ko", "bear ko", then one time on our way home, when we passed by a Jollibee, she suddenly shouted "Jollibee Ko" sabi ng Daddy "Anak pati si Jollibee inangkin mo na." haha..

Another time naman, when we arrived home, sabi ni Papa, anak pakinggan mo ha. Then she asked Jashley.

Papa: Jashley, what is your Mommy's name?
Jashley: Jow-shey-mey.
Papa: How about your Daddy's name?
Jashley: Bayan.
Papa: Eh, your Papa's name?
Jashley: Judee.
Papa: How about your Mama's name?
Jashley: Panget!!! (shouting while giggling)

Tawanan kami then I said "That's not Mama's name, again what is Mama's name?

Jashley: Juliet.

She knows naman all our names lalo na Mama and Papa's name mas nauna pa nga nya natutunan bigkasin yun kesa sa name namin ni Hubby, I don't know where she learned that, di naman daw nila tinuro yun. Now, whenever you ask her what is Mama's name, her answer is "Panget" while giggling, then she will correct herself and say "No... Juliet", may pagka-pilya nadin ang batang to. I wonder kanino nagmana.
